Necessary Qualifications: MD, DO, NP, or PA licensure in the state of CT
Position: X-Ray Technician
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Performs digital radiographic examination and EKGS at extended care facilities in response to legitimate requests by a physician or other medical professional through established ordering procedures (prescheduled or STAT requests)
• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic examinations
• Determines most suitable anatomical posture; positions and shields patients accordingly
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with imagining procedure; makes appropriate staff contact for intervention
• Utilizes all prescribed skills and techniques in obtaining a viable image without exposing patient to unnecessary levels of radiation, causing pain and/or undue discomfort to patient
• Follows proper patient identification by using 2 active identifiers
• Adheres to commonly accepted Infection Control practices (i.e. gloves and washing hands before and after patient contact).
• Responds to prescheduled or STAT radiographic examinations or EKGs (at any extended care facility) in a timely manner and at a supervisor’s or director’s request
• Provides proper documentation in lieu of patient refusal or inability to locate patient. Makes appropriate entries on forms when exam has been completed; tech initials, badge number, date of service, time exam performed and number of patients in trip.
• Review order form to ensure all required fields are filled out including but not limited to nurse’s signature, patient name, social security number, room number, date of birth, ordering physician, diagnosis and insurance information.
Necessary Qualifications:
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) certification
• Current NJDEP license
• Basic computer knowledge mandatory
• High School or equivalency diploma
• A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or Radiology (required for all technologists certified after January 2014)
• Valid driver’s license
• Competent in both spoken and written English
