Our student patients often take advantage of our many benefits which include our walk-in welcome policy, our extended after hours and our weekend hours as well. It is the simple goal of our team here at DOCS to be the most reliable and effective medical source for students faced with acute illnesses and injuries, especially when other student health centers cannot meet their needs.

Flu Shots

Nobody looks forward to flu season. However, here at DOCS Urgent Care of Hamden we are prepared to administer necessary flu vaccinations to all our student patients. Flu shots are an ideal option for fighting the many contagious viral infections that can be spread during the flu season. Flu shots provide the body with needed antibodies to fight off infections linked directly to the virus. Influenza a (H1N1) virus, Influenza A (H3H2) virus, and Influenza B virus are the most common strains of the virus that can be fought off with flu vaccinations.

We advise all our student patients and any patient over the age of six to have a flu shot. However, we do want our patients to understand that those individuals suffering with chronic illnesses may be at a higher risk for complications from flu shots.

When travelling abroad, it is wise to have disease preventing travel immunization shots. Having travel vaccinations is an ideal way of minimizing your risk of contracting harmful bacteria and viruses during your travels.
