Both before and afterwards.<\/p><p>PR doesn\u2019t replace medical therapy. Instead, it\u2019s used with medical therapy and may include:<\/p><ul><li>Exercise training<\/li><li>Nutritional counseling<\/li><li>Education on your lung disease or condition and how to manage it<\/li><li>Energy-conserving techniques<\/li><li>Breathing strategies<\/li><li>Psychological counseling and\/or group support<\/li><\/ul><p>PR involves a long-term commitment from the patient and a team of health care providers. The PR team may include doctors, nurses, and specialists; Including:<\/p><ul><li>Respiratory Therapists<\/li><li>Physical and Occupational Therapists<\/li><li>Dietitians and \/ or Nutritionists<\/li><li>Psychologists or Social Workers<\/li><\/ul><p>PR is often an outpatient program based in a hospital or clinic. Some patients also can receive PR within their homes.<\/p><p>\u200bWhen you start PR, your rehab team will create a plan that\u2019s tailored to your abilities and needs. You\u2019ll likely attend your PR program weekly. Your team also will expect you to follow your plan, including exercises and lifestyle changes, at home.<\/p><p>PR has many benefits. It can improve your ability to function and your quality of life. The program also may help relieve your breathing problems.
