Point of Care Testing

DOCS Medical Group Point of Care Testing

Docs is now offering point of care (POC) testing at all 17 locations throughout the state. This test allows us to test for COVID19 on site with results in as little as 15 minutes.

The Process
This is a serology test, meaning that blood is used to identify the infection. Patients are asked to create a televisit with one of our providers if they have come in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVD19 or are experiencing COVID19-like symptoms. During their visit, the provider will direct them to the closest location, where a staff member will prick their finger to collect a small blood sample for testing. The patient will then be asked to wait outside for results, which will be ready in about 15 minutes.
Unlike the nasal pharyngeal test that is currently being used, this test allows us to test for current infection along with past infection of COVID19 by assessing the antibodies in your system. If someone has been previously infected within the last 6-8 weeks, this test will identify that. Those who have been infection previously are less likely to acquire the infection again.

During this surge in COVID-19 cases, our primary focus is meeting the high demand for tests, and we are seeing higher than usual wait times. This means we are unable to answer most phone calls. Please know that our teams are working very hard during this time to care for as many patients as safely as possible.
