What Is an At Home Sleep Test?
At-home sleep tests make testing so much easier for patients because they can perform them right in their own homes, with family members around them while they sleep, and breathing patterns are being monitored and recorded. The results are essential to the doctor’s analysis and diagnosis of a sleep disorder.
Common Sleep Apnea symptoms include:
- Waking up with a very sore or dry throat
- Loud snoring
- Occasionally waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
- Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
- Sleepiness while driving
- Morning headaches
- Restless sleep
Here at DOCS Medical Group in Bethel, we schedule initial consultations to gather important medical histories, and gain a better understanding of patient concerns and symptoms. The at-home test given to the patients generates results needed to perform a proper analysis and diagnosis. These sleep tests are very reliable, but they do not monitor how long you are asleep, and whether you are a light or a heavy sleeper.

Sleep Apnea Testing
The results generated by the sleep test are then studied and analyzed by one of our physicians to determine whether or not you suffer from a sleep disorder. The sleep apnea test monitors many elements, including sleep patterns, and how many times you stop breathing while sleeping.
Here at our highly reputable Bethel clinic, our team of doctors provides patients with information needed about their sleep test and equipment, and instructions on how to attach and align the sleep sensors.
Measuring Your Results
While you are sleeping, a variety of important components are monitored with results generated, including a variety of sleep and breathing activities. At the completion of the sleep apnea test, the results are shared with your primary care doctor. These test results assist greatly with the doctor’s assessment and analysis. Once the doctor has reviewed all the results, they will schedule a follow up visit with you to discuss your test results and treatment options.
If the test findings reveal that you suffer from OSA, your doctor will refer you to a certified sleep specialist for further treatment. If the results do not indicate OSA, your doctor may choose to perform additional testing to further assess your symptoms.
Sleep Disorder Treatment
When OSA has been revealed and confirmed, you will begin treatment with one of our certified sleep specialists located at our Norwalk or Orange locations. They will discuss in detail all your test results, as well as treatment options, and will ultimately design a personalized treatment plan specific to your individual needs.
