At Home Sleep Testing Services

What Is an At Home Sleep Test?

At-home sleep testing allows patients to perform the test in their own comfortable surroundings. The tests monitor various sleep patterns, interruptions and breathing patterns. A report is generated during the testing process, which is used by our doctors in their analysis and diagnosis of a sleep disorder.

Common Sleep Apnea symptoms include:

  •    Waking up with a very sore or dry throat
  •    Loud snoring
  •    Occasionally waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
  •    Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
  •    Sleepiness while driving
  •    Morning headaches
  •    Restless sleep

Our dedicated team here at the DOCS Medical Group in Waterbury consults with patients and provides them with at-home sleep tests. The test results generated show sleep and breathing patterns that are mandatory to an accurate assessment and analysis. Though the tests are quite accurate, they do not monitor how long you are asleep, and whether you are a light or a heavy sleeper.

At Home Sleep Tests

Sleep Apnea Testing

The various results accumulated during the at-home sleep apnea testing are studied and analyzed by one of our doctors in their efforts to define whether or not you suffer from a sleep disorder. From sleep patterns to monitoring how many times you stop breathing while sleeping, all results are essential to your diagnosis.

Here at the Waterbury clinic, we offer all our valued patients insight on how to perform the sleep test, and how to properly attach and align the sleep sensors.

Measuring Your Results

A complete record is generated during the testing period, reflecting all sleep and breathing activities. At the completion of the test, the accumulated data is shared with your primary care doctor who will analyze and assess all the information. Once they have completed their review, they will reach out to schedule a follow up appointment with you to go over all their findings.

If results indicate that you suffer from OSA, your primary care doctor will refer you to a sleep specialist. If results do not reflect OSA, then your doctor may want to perform additional testing to further analyze your symptoms.

Sleep Disorder Treatment

When the test results point to the presence of OSA, your doctor will immediately refer you to one of our licensed sleep specialists located at our Norwalk or Orange locations. They will do a continued evaluation and assessment of your test results, and will ultimately design a personalized treatment plan for you.
