What Is an At Home Sleep Test?

A very popular choice by many people, at-home sleep testing is performed in the comfort of your own surroundings with family members around you. The tests monitor your sleep patterns and generate data needed to diagnose various types of sleep disorders. Contact our primary care team today for more information about at-home testing.

Common Sleep Apnea symptoms include:

  •    Waking up with a very sore or dry throat
  •    Loud snoring
  •    Occasionally waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
  •    Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
  •    Sleepiness while driving
  •    Morning headaches
  •    Restless sleep

Here in the Stamford office, we take tremendous pride in helping our patients determine whether or not they suffer from a sleep disorder. We provide at-home tests that monitor sleep patterns and record pertinent data and results needed to properly diagnose various types of disorders. The tests, however, do not monitor how long you are asleep, and whether you are a light or a heavy sleeper.

At Home Sleep Tests

Sleep Apnea Testing

Sleep apnea at-home tests monitor individuals while they sleep and produce sleep patterns that are later analyzed by our doctors in determining whether or not an individual suffers from a sleep disorder. The tests focus primarily on the number of times you stop breathing while sleeping, and aid in identifying sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea.

Here at our Stamford clinic, our team of specialists provide patients with all the information they need about the home testing, which includes instructions on how to properly attach the sleep sensors.

Measuring Your Results

While you are asleep, the tests monitor sleep patterns, and record all activities. Once the testing is completed, the recorded data is used by our doctors to determine if you suffer from any type of sleep disorder. Upon completion of their analysis, your doctor will schedule a follow up appointment with you to go over all their findings.

If your at-home test reveals that you suffer from OSA, your doctor will refer you to one of our highly experienced sleep specialists for further treatment.  If there is no finding of OSA, your doctor may opt to perform additional testing, or may simply refer you to a sleep specialist.

Sleep Disorder Treatment

If results indicate that you suffer from OSA, your doctor will refer you immediately to one of our highly skilled sleep specialists located at our Norwalk or Orange locations. The specialist will perform a full assessment of your test results and design a personalized treatment plan for you accordingly.
