What Is an At Home Sleep Test?

At-home sleep testing is performed in the comfort of your home with your family members around you.  The tests monitor your sleep patterns and interruptions and generate results needed to diagnose your sleep disorder by one of our primary care physicians.

Common Sleep Apnea symptoms include:

  •    Waking up with a very sore or dry throat
  •    Loud snoring
  •    Occasionally waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
  •    Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
  •    Sleepiness while driving
  •    Morning headaches
  •    Restless sleep

The team here in the Stratford office is committed to helping patients with their sleep disorders by providing at-home tests used to monitor sleep patterns. The test generates results that are needed for a proper diagnosis of varied sleep disorders. Though they are effective, the tests do not monitor how long you are asleep, and whether you are a light or a heavy sleeper.

At Home Sleep Tests

Sleep Apnea Testing

While you are asleep, the at-home sleep apnea test will monitor your sleep patterns. The results of testing are later analyzed by one of our doctors to determine whether or not you suffer from a sleep disorder. The tests monitor and record the number of times you stop breathing while sleeping, which is critical to identifying sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea.

Our top-rated team here in Stratford provides patients with information needed about test equipment, and specific instructions on the proper use of the sleep sensors.

Measuring Your Results

The tests monitor all your sleep activities and produce an accurate record of sleep data.  When the test is complete, all the recorded data is presented to our doctors for their analysis and assessment.  Once their analysis is completed, they will contact you and schedule a follow up appointment to go over all their findings.

If they find that you suffer from OSA, they will refer you to one of our sleep specialists.  If there is no finding of OSA, then they may perform additional testing or, otherwise, will refer you to the sleep specialist.

Sleep Disorder Treatment
If a finding of OSA is made, you will be referred directly to one of our highly experienced sleep specialists located at our Norwalk or Orange locations. The specialist performs an evaluation and assessment of your sleep test results, and is able to design a personalized treatment plan for you thereafter.
