DO I NEED AN X-RAY?

Do you think you have fractured or broken a bone? Bones can be rigid and have little flex, too much force can result in cracks or breaks. If you have been in a serious trauma, like a car accident or collision, these types of situations can cause bones to break completely or shatter. If you fear you have broken a bone due to injury, the specialists, physicians, and technicians at the DOCS Urgent Care of New Milford have the experience and equipment needed for your care.

Common Bone Fractures

The most common type of bone fractures are:

Oblique Fracture- A bone fracture that causes the fracture to be in an angled pattern.

Transverse fracture- A broken bone that causes the bone to be in a horizontal fracture line.

Comminuted fracture- Bone has shattered in at least three places due to fracture.

Open, compound fracture- The bone is visible in the wound, or has pierced the skin due to trauma.

Stable fracture- Although broken, bones still line up.

Symptoms of a Broken or Fractured Bone

If you have a fractured or broken bone, you may display these symptoms:

  • There is intense pain when you move the injured area
  • There is tenderness near the injured area, which may be swollen
