Our Healthcare Services for Students

DOCS Urgent Care of Southington strives to maintain our marketplace presence by continuing to provide only the highest quality personalized care and treatment options to all our valued student patients.

Acute Illness or Injuries

When students are in need of medical attention for acute illnesses or injuries, they can turn to the professional staff here at DOCS Urgent Care of Southington. Students can enjoy a variety of benefits that include our walk-in welcome policy, our extended after hours and our weekend hours as well.

Flu Shots

When flu season arrives, students can put their trust in the team here at DOCS Urgent Care of Southington to administer needed flu shots. Flu shots help to provide your body with the antibodies needed to fight off the flu. Some of the more common strains of the virus that flu shots can ward off include Influenza a (H1N1) virus, Influenza A (H3H2) virus, and Influenza B virus.

It is highly recommended that anybody over the age of 6 have a flu shot. Individuals suffering with chronic illnesses may, however, be at a higher risk for complications from the vaccinations.

Travel Immunizations

Here at DOCS Urgent Care of Southington we also provide our student patients with disease preventing travel immunization shots which we can administer prior to the start of their travels.

Common Travel Vaccinations Include

  • Yellow Fever
  • Meningitis (Meningococcal)
  • HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Typhoid
  • Rabies
  • Polio
  • Hepatitis A (HEP A)
  • Hepatitis B (HEP B)
  • Hepatitis B Combination

STD Testing

We also take a great deal of pride in the confidential STD testing we offer student patients. Those students who have multiple sexual partners, are currently sexually active, or have had unprotected sex and are experiencing symptoms should schedule testing as soon as possible. The STD testing we administer includes taking urine or blood samples, swabs (mouth, genitals, sores, discharge), and physical exams. All testing is completed quickly and, of course, confidentially, that is unless we find it necessary to send you to another physician for further evaluation. Students can walk right in or choose to schedule a confidential appointment.

STD Testing is available for:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Chlamydia
  • Syphilis
  • Gonorrhea
  • Hepatitis C
  • HPV
  • Herpes

School & Sports Physicals

Need a school physical or a physical for that favorite sport you play? Don’t fret. Here at DOCS Urgent Care of Southington we have got you covered. Before performing routine physicals we will gather family history to determine if additional testing is required. Physicals we administer include checking your vitals, hearing, vision and any other testing needed to meet the requirements of specific sports.
